The following four resource documents have been developed as part of the online NISC Workforce Development Starter Tool:
(1) An Environmental Scan of Trends & Developments Impacting on the Australian Workforce
This web-linked document provides a comprehensive, yet concise overview of critical workforce issues at the global, national and state/territory levels. Links to relevant websites, data sources, articles and publications have been included should readers wish to obtain more detailed information.
(2) Good Practice Workforce Strategies - Case Studies
This document presents ‘real life’ examples and highlights effective strategies implemented by enterprises in responding to a range of workforce development issues. Pertinent case studies have been identified across a spectrum of industries, small/medium/large enterprises and different labour market target groups.
(3) Workforce Strategies Implemented by Small to Medium Enterprises: Australian Case Studies
Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Australia often face challenges in competing with larger firms for skilled labour and finding ways to integrate training and development into their day to day operations. This guide presents examples of Australian SMEs which have successfully strengthened their business through a concerted effort to train and develop staff. Some of these companies have been winners and finalists for state or national business and training awards in Australia, while others have accessed programs or initiatives to assist business improvement and workforce development.
